Dear Senator Manchin:
As you can see from the return address, I am not one of you constituents. However, please do not dismiss this letter because I have a plan that will deliver more Federal Dollars to West Virginia and make you the Man of the Hour.
The plan involves three things you said to the media. Paraphrasing, you said that the “progressives scared the hell out of your constituents” and, later, that you would not vote against the Filibuster or for the Green New Deal.
The Filibuster? If the Republicans win either seat in the Georgia run-off, all of this is moot. Mitch McConnell will make sure nothing happens, no cabinet appointments, no judicial appointments, no legislation. You will be just another Democratic Senator whose vote does not mean much.
If, instead, the Democrats win both seats, appointments will happen, but Republicans will kill every piece of legislation with the Filibuster. Here again, you are just another Senator.
If the Filibuster dies, legislation will happen! If America ever needed something to happen, it is now. That brings us to the Green New Deal. Without the Filibuster, you become a one-man Filibuster. Only legislation that you support will become law. No Green New Deal. No Medicare for All. You will the most important Senator. If you vote ‘YEA’ the bill will pass, if ‘NAY’, it will not. With that power you can provide everything WV needs. Jobs. Infrastructure. Think about that!
The progressives didn’t scare your constituents, the Republicans did with lies and misinformation. You can pay them back by slowly turning West Virginia blue, making reelection that much easier.
Are there more Democratic Senators who oppose killing the Filibuster? You could band together and control the Senate for the next 4 years. Federal Dollars will rain on your states. It could transform WV.
Support the Filibuster, nothing will get done. Kill the Filibuster, everything gets done. You will wield more power than anyone. West Virginians will get the help they need. It is your choice.
